BACKSTORY

Where do I even begin?

My father's troubles? My missing sister? My crumbling state of mind? College life in another country away from my family and friends?

Ugh... Here goes nothing.

My (default) name is  Josh Steindl, hailing from the lovely island of Agua City, somewhere in the Philippine archipelago. I just turned 19 and about to take the next big step in life. Good ol' college.

Or maybe it's the start of a new chapter? Who knows?

My dad's been dealing with some heavy stuff, and my sister... well, she's been missing for a while now. It's like a piece of me is gone, and I'm not sure how to fill that void. My mind's a mess, a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions that I can't seem to control.

You see, when we were just four years old, a guy from my dad's past showed up out of nowhere. He threatened our family, said something about a job my dad needed to finish. To keep us safe, they decided to send us back to our old country. But only my sister Jillian ended up going, and on her way to our grandparents' home in Austria... she was kidnapped. Just like that, she was gone.

As for my mom... she's our rock. Despite everything, she's kept us together. But I can see it's taken a toll on her. She smiles, but her eyes... they tell a different story.

And then there's me, caught in the middle of it all. I'm Josh, just a regular guy from a not-so-regular family. I've had my fair share of curveballs, and I've learned to swing back. Now, I'm about to step into the unknown. College, life, women(?), whatever comes next... I'm ready.

But this isn't just about facing what life throws at me. It's about finding answers, uncovering truths, and maybe, just maybe, finding that missing piece. 

And let's not forget about the typical college stuff. The late-night study sessions- wait... no, who am I fucking kidding? The crazy parties, the new friendships. And yes, the women. Navigating the dating scene; hopefully, lots of fucking; experiencing the highs and lows of romance... it's all part of the package.

But here's the twist: I won't be living in a dorm room or an apartment. No, I'll be living with a host family. A whole new set of faces, a whole new dynamic. It's gonna be interesting, to say the least.

Why a host family, you ask? Well, let's just say my college fund didn't exactly hit the jackpot. And by that, I mean it barely scraped together enough for tuition. So, a fancy dorm room or a swanky apartment? Yeah, those are a no-go. But a host family? Now that's more my speed. And who knows? Maybe they have some good-looking kids who wouldn't mind continuing their bloodline with a foreign germ.

So, here's to the journey ahead. It's gonna be one hell of a ride. From the classrooms to the dinner table, from the library to the local hangouts, from the friendships to the bedrooms... I'm diving in headfirst. Bring it on!
